Initially
hired as a Systems Administrator, responsibilities included providing support
to end users, setting up computers for new employees as well as creating their
accounts and installing & supporting RedHat Linux and Solaris 7 servers.

of two students working as paid interns who were directly and solely
responsible for maintaining the computers and network at Leander High School in
addition to providing district-wide support during the summers and as needed
during the school year.

instruction to students, teachers, and administrators on the use of

Novell NDS and Microsoft Windows NT system administration, as well as general computing

Responsible for providing on-call support of intraNetWare
4.11 servers to Dell Computer Corporation during their Y2K testing
efforts. Dell’s requirement was to have
someone with substantial NetWare experience available to deal with any issues
that arose during testing.
Responsible for
installing, configuring and supporting networked DOS, Windows 3.x & 95 and
Macintosh workstations’ hardware and software in classrooms, labs and offices.
Worked as a
student with campus technology facilitators to assist with day-to-day computer
support around the school. Also worked
on special projects such as setting up new labs & servers and providing
instruction to students and teachers.
This included dealing with DOS, Windows 3.x, Windows 95 & Macintosh
workstations, Novell Netware & Apple Macintosh Servers, hubs, switches,
routers, etc. and a variety of software including ClarisWorks & HyperCard
for the Macintosh and WordPerfect & Microsoft Office for Windows-based PCs.
